MICHAEL (Mahan) WINGO


 

Having earned a Master of Fine Arts from Otis College of Fine Arts and Design in Los Angeles in 1967, I have worked and taught in L.A. ever since.  I am a practicing artist (Painter) and have shown in museums and commercial galleries in Europe, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. My work is in publicly known collections such as: Permanent collections: Oakland Museum, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Otis College of Art & Design, LA., Munger Tolles Olsen and Manatt Phelps, IBM, BofA Permanent Collections.

 

Reviews on my work have been in Art Week and Art In America.  For more recent work and reviews, google: Michael Wingo (Artist).  I have received grants or fellowships from: Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation -- Grant in Painting, NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) - Fellowship in Painting. Other writings: museum catalogue by Henry T. Hopkins (former Director of SF Museum of Modern Art).  

 

Examples of my work and writings of are in the Smithsonian Archives and the Getty Archives.  I am in the new Encyclopedia of Southern Calif. Art (L Keinholz, ed.), and am in Who's Who in American Art and the Dictionary of International Biography.
