I graduated from San Jose State and taught school (kindergarten) for two years. I have 3 wonderful children - two daughters and a son. My kids grew up in Walnut Creek. I'm proud to say that they all graduated from college and are extremely happy in what they do. Two children have families and, therefore, I am a grandma to four beautiful granddaughters and 2 grandsons. I'm so lucky.
I've traveled the world (England, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Thailand, Singapore, Diego Garcia, North Carolina) on work assignments as a ship loading/logistics planner spending as long as 6 months in some areas. I worked as a federal employee at the US Naval Weapons Station in Concord, CA. In 1999 with cutbacks pending, I opted for the chance to retire early. I'm loving the opportunity to spend weeks or months with Cindy, my daughter, and her 4 kids in Cumming, Georgia. My son, Craig has 2 children and they live in Truckee. My oldest daughter, Jennifer, lives in Sacramento with her dog. She is attorney working long hours. Anyway, I love my children, their spouses and my grandkids and enjoy being grandma. I have lots of relatives still in Bay Area, in Sacramento area and other parts of Northern CA.
For the past 6 yrs I have lived in Truckee and love the mountains, the snow and have met many wonderful people here. I worked and now volunteer at the KidZone Museum which is an interactive museum for 1 - 6 year olds. Older children love it too. I've joined various social and political groups in Truckee so keep busy doing fun stuff. Proud to say that I spent much time working for Pres Obama's election.
At this point in my life, I'm in good health. I can play a decent game of tennis. I did go skiing last year for the last time. I was never a very good skier anyway so I've retired from that now. I just don't want to fall down any more - it hurts too much.
I'm retired, divorced and enjoying the easy-going life such as getting up when I want, doing what I want, etc. My dream trip is to travel to Florence, Rome, Venice, Italy and staying a month or more. I'm planning to go soon while I'm in good health.
